2012! Wow! 2011 was such a big year for us! Hopefully this year will be awesome as we watch our little man grow and become a toddler! Ethan’s resolution this year is to learn to sleep more than 5 hours in a row! As for me, I am going to try to eat more new foods, learn to cook and bake (without setting the kitchen on fire), take photos, and blog more frequently (especially on Ethan’s blog for those of you who want to follow all the cuteness to come
). I’m really looking forward to seeing what the new year will bring

Today I went to watch my Godfather, Kurt, and his buddies TJ and Ellie Mae surfing at the Loews’ Surf Dog Competition (http://www.loewssurfdog.blogspot.com/). I unfortunately missed TJ’s solo heat (for little dogs) but made it for the Tandem heat (multiple dogs and humans). Michael and I went last year and we missed the tandem heat but made it for the solo heat so I guess it all evens out
The tandem heat was really cool. FIVE dogs on one surf board, people and dogs on the same boards, people on top of people with dogs on boards, and dogs on top of people on boards!
I took the camera with me and got some great shots of the event. Check them out

Today is Mother’s Day. So first and foremost Happy Mother’s Day to the best mom I know, my mom! I’ve been reflecting today on motherhood given the child I am growing in my womb. I’m very excited to be a mother and here is why:
My mom is awesome. She is always there for us, never putting herself first. The present tense is important in those sentences because it shows that not only was my mom the best while we were growing up, but she continues to be the best! I’ve learned a lot about being a mother from my mom, and I know that I will learn a lot more from her when Baby Mac comes along in October. I’m very lucky to have my mom and am fortunate to be able to learn from her as I start the adventure into motherhood. If I can succeed at being even half the mother that my mom was to us, Baby Mac will be a very lucky baby.

I love March. No matter where I’ve lived March is the start of warmer weather and LONGER days! I think its really the longer days that are the most important to me but never the less…WELCOME MARCH!
I’ve been slacking on my posts lately. Hopefully I will start to blog a little more this month. Things have been a little hectic around here with a few personal and business trips and lots of work. I have jury duty on Tuesday so I am sure that will provide some interesting blogging ideas!!

I started this post out with “blogger’s block” and had no idea what to write about. I was originally going to complain that I was not sure what to write about. Things have been relatively calm here in San Diego. Then I remembered the weather….It has been 75+ and sunny these last few days!! Today even reached 80! Seriously….I’m not sure mother nature realizes that it is January. Maybe she does, but I’m pretty sure she’s all turned around. That is even odd by San Diego standards! Now of course I am not complaining! Sunny and warm is always welcome in my book!
And yes, that was just a blog for the sake of blogging…Maybe next time it will be more interesting.

Well, Happy Birthday to Me! Yes, I know very self centered of me. But who cares! It’s my birthday! Time for my 28th year of life! Totally crazy! I feel like counting my blessings though. I look back on my first 27 years and know I am very lucky! I have a wonderful family and an awesome husband. We own a house in San Diego, where I have my dream job, and great friends (who I get to see every day at work)! I’ve had great educational opportunities, earned my doctorate as well as my private pilot license! Also after having surgery for skin cancer this year, I am cancer free and very thankful for that as well! I don’t mean to brag, I was just reflecting today on what I am lucky enough to have at 28 and wanted to express that
Thanks to everyone who makes my life so wonderful, I love you all

Saturday night Michael and I had our first party in our new home. The party was a housewarming and birthday party. It was a ton of fun and it was great that many of our friends showed up to celebrate with us! Here are some photos!

As 2010 comes to an end I can’t believe how fast the year has flown by! It’s been such a busy year. My first full year at work, Michael moved to San Diego and started a new job, we became huge Padre’s fans, I started and earned my pilots license, I travelled internationally for work, got second place in my fantasy league (Go Minions!!) and we bought a house in San Diego! Quite the year actually! It was a great year filled with great new friends and experiences.
Hopefully 2011 will be just as good. I’ve got some things I am hoping to accomplish in 2011.
- I hope to get back into knitting and photography and start to utilize my sewing machine more. This year Lauren, Melissa, Jess and I started up a Stitch ‘N Bitch and I hope that we made it a regular event in 2011. I also hope to expand my knitting skills and knit things that I will wear and use instead of the regular baby hats and bears I usually knit. Additionally, I hope to start learning how to take photos. I never really go into the mechanics of photography when I started taking pictures but really hope to learn a lot this year. I also hope to start getting into sewing. My mom bought me a sewing machine a few years ago and I never had time to learn to use it properly. Hopefully this year I will be able to sew some cool things!
- I plan to actually organize my online files and other responsible boring stuff
- Finish decorating the house and donate or sell everything we do not need or use
- Update my closet so that I no longer have clothing that I wore when I was in high school
- Celebrate my 28th birthday and my 5th wedding anniversary! I always thought 28 would be the best year of my life and I can’t believe Michael and I will have been married for 5 wonderful years! Lots to celebrate this year!
- Consider getting a sweet little puppy. Either a female golden retriever or a Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever.
- Go to lots of Padre’s games!
- Do lots of flying! Maybe head to Catalina or Big Bear and find lots of cool airport restaurants in Southern California. I’d also like to get my high performance endorsement so I can fly a Cessna 182 and learn how to fly a tailwheel plane if there is time!
- Be much better about blogging! I hope to blog more about flying and Michael and my San Diego adventures, but I also hope to blog about my knitting and sewing projects, my photography adventures, and anything else that happens along the way!
Well thats a start to the list. I’m sure that this will be a crazy year and who knows if I will get to any of the above things but hopefully it will be a very productive year! Be sure to check back here throughout the year for updates on our crazy adventures
